What can counselling do for me?

Are you feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or anxious? Do you often feel trapped in a body that seems to work against you? Are chronic illness, persistent pain, or fluctuating hormones dictating your days? Have you ever been told that you’re too much—too loud, too quiet, or too emotional? Perhaps you’ve faced accusations of being rigid or lazy, or labelled as a hypochondriac or flaky? Did you discover your neurodivergence only as an adult, after navigating the complexities of the medical system and receiving the wrong labels? For so long, you've tried to measure up to everyone else's expectations, all while wishing you could retreat from the world.

Does your mind race and your heart pound? Are you beyond exhausted, feeling as if no one around you understands the storm brewing inside? You might be your own worst critic, constantly belittling yourself for not meeting the expectations of others or even your own. Perhaps you are a perfectionist, never satisfied with your achievements. Do you struggle to get out of bed in the morning? Find it difficult to quiet your mind and fall asleep at night? Are daily tasks a monumental challenge for you, while others seem to tackle them without effort? Do you question why you can’t be like everyone else?

Living with these emotions can be exhausting, leaving you feeling isolated in a world that often doesn’t fully understand. In these moments, being seen, heard, accepted, and valued is not just important; it’s fundamental. You are not alone, and you don’t have to navigate these feelings by yourself. Counselling can be a powerful ally in your quest for relief, understanding, and inner peace.

Counselling offers a judgment free space where you can freely express your thoughts and feel heard and validated. Counsellors like me are trained to help you untangle the web of emotions and thoughts that make life feel overwhelming. Through counselling, you can explore the root causes of your challenges, develop healthier coping strategies, and discover activities that help you manage your emotions. This journey is not about changing who you are or fixing you—you are not broken. It’s about aligning more authentically with your true self.

In this partnership, your pace, needs, and goals take priority. No feeling is too big or too small; it’s okay to admit when something doesn’t feel right, and it’s okay to be vulnerable. True growth often comes from the courage to face what feels insurmountable, and I'm here to support you every step of the way.

The therapist and meaning behind Te Video:

Beyond labels,

into authenticity

At Te Video Counselling & Psychotherapy, the name, derived from the Latin "I see you", is my promise. I believe true healing begins when you feel genuinely seen, heard, accepted, and valued. and this deeply resonates with my approach.

Being truly seen and accepted for who I am, allowed me, the founder of Te Video Counselling, to grow into a more authentic version of myself.

I find this particularly important for people who, like me, may be navigating a world not always ideal for neurodivergence, processing late diagnosis of Autism and/or ADHD, processing lifelong feelings of shame or failure, adapting and surviving with chronic health conditions and processing past traumas.

Society often only sees what is on the surface, healthcare can often focus on pathology - labels, diagnosis, defects, and disorders.

My desire is to see the individual beyond all that, so when developing my own Professional Practice,  "Te Video" became my mantra. I strive to see the authentic version of you, before reflecting that back, to support you in reconnecting with who you truly are.

Tailored online support to navigate an unpredictable world

It’s natural to feel uncertain about starting counselling. Many people worry about being judged or appearing weak. At Te Video, I believe in a highly individualised approach to your well-being. My online counselling and psychotherapy services are designed to meet your unique needs: care is shaped around your individual experience, offering a calm and encouraging space to understand your emotions and find clarity without pressure.

Applying Person Centred methodology as my foundation, our work focuses on building a genuine connection so you can share your thoughts freely and move at your own pace. Counselling is a relaxed environment where you can sort through the craziness of your emotions, get clear on what’s going on, reconnect with who you are, and ultimately find more peace and healing within yourself.

Trauma Informed Support

As someone who has navigated a world that isn't always accommodating and is often damaging to unique experiences, I am committed to helping others on a similar journey. Grounded in trauma informed principles, this space is designed to meet you where you are.

I specialise in offering support for individuals navigating burnout, parenting neurodivergent children, late diagnosis/recognition of ADHD and/or Autism, individuals managing chronic illness, hormonal challenges, and chronic pain conditions, as well as those impacted by childhood trauma or shame.

Here, feeling truly seen, heard, accepted and valued is central, creating room for authentic healing in a relaxed, pressure‑free environment where you can explore your experiences without the need to mask or conform, fostering self-compassion and genuine growth. Therapy doesn't have to be uncomfortable, restrictive or formal. I welcome working at your pace, in a relaxed way that suits you best.

Creative, Expressive & Somatic integration

You are in control of how the sessions work, we can weave together a blend of talking therapy, compassion focused techniques, creative, expressive, or body based methods, allowing your healing and understanding of yourself to unfold in a way that feels natural and empowering.

A unique and affirming space for neurodivergent minds

Individuals with Autism and ADHD frequently endure trauma from navigating environments that are not designed for their needs. This struggle often leads to low self-esteem, burnout, and various co-occurring mental health, chronic illness or chronic pain conditions.

My mission is to foster a compassionate and validating space for neurodivergent individuals. By honouring and celebrating our diverse ways of being as natural variations of the human experience, rather than issues that require fixing. I aim to empower you in tackling life's challenges with support that truly acknowledges and values your unique journey.

As someone who received a late diagnosis of both Autism and ADHD, and as a single parent who raised a child with AuDHD, I draw not only from my extensive training, but from my personal journey. I deeply understand the remarkable impact of working with a neurodivergent therapist. For years, I believed that talking therapy was ineffective for me, as traditional methods often failed to address my unique processing style, leading me to to experience more shame. I provide a different experience.

My Person-Centred foundation allows for a pluralistic approach, enabling the creation of individualised sessions. These can incorporate somatic body based, compassion-focused, and creative elements, ensuring that you feel truly understood and supported in a manner that respects your distinct perspective. Here we move away from pathology and closer to self regulation, self understanding, self trust and self acceptance.

Working online offers you the flexibility to design a therapy space that meets your needs perfectly. You can dress in whatever makes you comfortable, choose a room, seat, and position that suits you, and keep fidget toys, doodle books, or personal comforts nearby, know that if you need to get up and move around and stim, you are encouraged and supported to do so. You are  free to connect in ways that resonate with you.
